As many of you have seen, for the first time in many years I have begun teaching two day plein air oil painting classes focusing on Eastern Sierra landscapes.
The focus of these classes is beginner and advanced technique, including use of the palette knife, color theory and composition. The aim is for students to gain additional skills and experience in capturing light, shadow and color while in the field.
The classes start with the fundamentals of plein air painting: choosing and preparing a palette, picking realistic subject matter, achieving clean color in paintings, and developing successful compositions. There will be discussions on materials, scene selection and brushwork. During the workshop, participants will receive group and individual instruction on their paintings to reinforce workshop concepts.
I look forward to working with you to help your craft develop.
